Hellllooo! :D Good morning everyone!
It is freezing here today... Louisiana has the most bipolar weather BY FAR. Today all of us are going to downtown New Orleans to go to the french market and to check out some of the stuff that they have there. I am so excited! We plan on trying the hottest salsa in the world and to go shopping and to try some original foods to Louisiana! (Not that I haven't been already...but still! lol.) And take some pictures because we are all in green! :)
Training 3 sisters has to be the most exhausting thing I've ever done. Some of them are having some problems with obedience and it's so hard to be the one to stop them from doing what they're doing and sometimes its even hard to get the courage to say anything at all. Please pray for me!! haha.. but we do have a lot of fun. That is one thing that is for certain, and by talking to everyone that we see and listening to our promptings we have found so many new investigators this week and other really potential people who are truly interested in learning more. It is so incredible!!!
Our mission President, President Wall came down from Baton Rouge and talked with our district for a little while during one of our meetings. It was so extremely inspired I love learning from him! One kind of not so exciting/exciting news is that he told me he plans on moving me AGAIN to another area BEFORE this transfer is up. We are moving April 4th to Morgan City, Louisiana. I would be completely lying out of my two front teeth if I told you I am not absolutely fed up with being moved around. I seriously feel like I am in an area for a couple of weeks just to get to know people, find more people to teach, and then to leave. It has been terribly discouraging, but then I tell myself to suck it up because it is not my choice. The Lord needs me in Morgan City for whatever reason and I will continue to do my best to keep my chin up and trust that he is making the most of me. President Wall told me how much he has seen me grow since I first came here. He told me that he has seen my confidence in my missionary work grow even stronger than before and that they need me over there. He also told me he has a really strong feeling that the experiences and things that I'm going through here in this area will be so beneficial for my investigators when I return to Temple Square. I am hoping that what he said is true because my goodness - talk about exhausting - theres no breaks as a missionary that is for sure!
We have seriously had such an awesome week though! So, Sister Roberts and I went out one day to find a less active family and I've realized just how much I love doing this because miracles ALWAYS come as a result. Even if no one is home, we always try to find the reason why Heavenly Father made that name stand out to us as we were looking at the list of people in the ward. While we were at this apartment complex sister roberts was dying because she really had to pee - like super bad. So we are hurrying in trying to find this apartment and we had to park super far away because we would have gotten towed otherwise.. haha. poor girl. So then we finally find the apartment and .... no one is home. She's like SISTER!!!! I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER! hahaha.. so then we turn around and see this little black boy run out of an apartment and I was like "Sister, let's go knock on that door. Maybe they'll be extra nice to you because they can relate to you and will let you use their bathroom even if they don't wanna hear our message" So then we go and knock to find out that it is actually a hispanic family from honduras!!! And they were like SUPER nice the second we opened the door and invited us in and to sit and everything. So sister roberts got to use the bathroom! yay! haha. but the whole situation was absolutely unbelievable. I was so excited! They were super receptive to our message and said they met with missionaries like months and months ago but that they lost contact with them but still wanted to learn more! I couldn't believe it! So we talk a little about the book of mormon and getting to know them and we invited them to come to the english class that we teach every tuesday and thursday. So we are going to see how that goes. I have the strongest testimony of that the God probably gets a good chuckle at us missionaries sometimes. And sometimes he does things like prepares sister roberts to really have to use the bathroom so we would so something we probably wouldn't have otherwise.
On that note, we also got this coupon in the mail to go to mcdonalds, by one get one free kind of thing. So we were all super excited and planned to go the next day for lunch. So we get there, order our food and are about to leave when I look up and see this hispanic lady cleaning the tables. Our eyes my eye contact but I was just about to walk out the door. I walk out and then tell myself that we are supposed to "Go & do unless prompted not to" and so that is exactly what we did. I got Sister Palmer to go with me and pushed her to talk to her so she could practice her spanish and it was so awesome because this lady was like yeah I've heard of your church before. I would love to learn more! Then she gave us her phone number and said to call and set up a time to go and visit with her. My whole point of that is to point out how Heavenly Father is preparing each and every single person on this earth to hear our message. He knows us so much better than we could ever imagine. I'm not sure what will come of this lady, but I do know that the Lord put those coupons in the mail so we would go to mcdonalds that next day to meet her. I felt that confirmation so much as we left.
I could go on for experiences like that all day long... we have found so many people to teach and I'm so excited to keep learning and growing as we help others to learn and grow. Each person is seriously worth SO much. I am honestly so convinced that our loving Heavenly Father is making me be more susceptible to the spirit so I will learn to lower my pride and be more willing to follow what HE wants me to be doing. I've learned so much about pride and the true evil that it is. I will probably talk about that next week because I'm pretty sure it's a pattern God is making me understand more and more. In the meantime - I invite you all to heed to the promptings of the spirit this week when he tells you to talk to someone, apologize to someone, or to do something out of the ordinary. How will you know if it is you or the spirit? Just as Elder Bednar would say QUIT WORRYING ABOUT IT! You'll find out when you do it! :)
Love you all so much!
