What gift will YOU give Christ? 12/9/13

Helllo hellooo to all of everyone!
Yayyy!! It's so beautiful here and this week has been filled with so many pleasant surprises! My birthday was definitely a good time!:) My district surprised me and made me all this yummy food and then we ate Sister Retuta's Philippino Mango Float (which was yummmmmmyyy!) And then I also had a wonderful surprise from  Sister Nielsen who brought me Horchata at WestGate!! :) Haha!!! Lovely lovely.

Christmas season is extra busy around here at Temple Square but I'm loving it more every day! Okay, if I may add, serving in WestGate is the best assignment in the world. People seriously bring us free stuff very very frequently! And I always love the really nice people who come and give us hugs. Especially cute little old women. It's the best thing ever!
And the Sisters here honestly work so hard! It just amazes me and I love it so much! We met this man who served his mission a year ago in Houston, Texas and well, one thing that we are really working hard at doing is extending an invitation to every person that we talk to (which can be really difficult when people don't want to talk to you) BUT anyways we invited this guy to get in touch with some of the people who he taught on his mission and to write them a message on facebook with a spiritual thought and he was like "Alright! I'll add that one to my list! Every sister I've talked to has invited me to do something and each of you are so inspired because it is something that I need to do... And now i have to do it because it was an invitation extended by a representative of Jesus Christ!" It just made my whole night! It was really awesome to see how the Lord is working through us here and that we really are here to bring people closer to Christ.

So one cool thing is that we just so happened yesterday at sacrament meeting to have a surprise visitor... Elder Quentin L. Cook from the Quorum of the 12 apostles came with his wife!! It was really cool and luckily, Sister Retuta and I weren't late...lol.
One really funny thing that happened though was when one of the Sisters was giving her talk, she was quoting from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland (who as you remember from before came to visit our mission) and she completely forgot that Elder Cook was there and was like "....And there's this quote by Elder Holland, who is always so good, he's just my favorite.." and then remembered Elder Cook was there and she was SO embarrassed but he was just cracking up as well as the rest of the congregation. Luckily, there was this sister from the Philippines that spoke after her and said "Well, Elder Holland can be her favorite because Elder Cook is mine." He went and visited the Philippines when she was just a little baby after her dad had recently joined the church and he went to her house and really uplifted her whole family while they were going through a hard time. So awesome, right?! She could hardly contain the tears because she was so privileged to be speaking that day. It was a really fun sacrament meeting.

Well, I've been having a bit of a rough spot with some of my investigators lately, and unfortunately, so unfortunately one of them is Andrew... Andrew, the Canadian, from Maine, who loves the Word of Wisdom now... remember him? Well, I basically really really really don't like Satan and I know everyone has told me that accepting peoples agency (or ability to choose right from wrong) is suuuper hard... but I just am so frustrated! His work is having him work SO much and always on Sunday and he feels so overwhelmed and stressed out  because this is the busiest time of year from them and he said he thinks he is going to need to take a break from exercising his faith because he just doesn't have time to really pray or go to church or read the scriptures. I received that text message and just about died. Sister Retuta really had to console me because I couldn't believe that he said that. Of course I will continue to uplift him in every single thing that he does because I want him to know where he can turn to once he understand that we can't just separate God from our temporal life. Work, family, activities should ALL be centered around our Savior. As President Henry B. Eyering has said "If we have faith in Jesus Christ, the hardest as well as the easiest times in life can be a blessing." I completely believe that and I know Andrew will come to know that as well. I know that he will see how important it is to put God first in everything. I have faith that things will turn around, but I'm just going to have to be patient!

But that leads me into my invitation to YOU. I've realized just how easily people forget the reason why we celebrate Christmas.
I want EACH of you to watch this video before you continue reading this... PLEASE?! It's just 3 minutes and 43 seconds. It's waaay cute, I promise!!... Just copy... and paste :)
Okay... now that you've watch it, wasn't that so enlightening?! Totally helps me remember the purpose of Christmas. And it also brings me to my invitation to invite you to think of something that YOU can give to Christ this Christmas. The little girl gives you a plethora of examples.. so you can even pick one of those or make it a family activity and choose together.
That's what this Christmas time is all about. Giving to Christ and remembering Him!

I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I know that he is the perfect example for every person to follow! He has changed my life and by accepting him into my heart and choosing to follow the commandments has become who I am as a person. I want to constantly radiate the love of my Savior and I want others to see Him in me. I know that Christ lives and that He wants us to be happy. He wants us to give to HIM.
What can YOU give Christ?? Give Him your HEART <3

Until next week!
SMILE, BE HAPPY, & REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!! :D
