Who will you become??? 1/27/14

Hellloooo! :D

Wow! I love this transfer so much! & I'm loving Louisiana!  To start off, I've been transferred to be with Sister Wily a Samoan from West Jordan, Utah! :D I love her to pieces! Seriously, since day one we have gotten along incredibly well. She's just a little bundle of joy and it makes me happy because we are both happy together. Honestly, Heavenly Father loves me so much. I'm actually still speaking and teaching in English right now... but we've had multiple experiences where I've been able to use my Spanish in ways to love and serve others that otherwise would have never been taken care of. And Sister Wily actually practices her Spanish with me :) It's so cute. I am so happy and grateful to be with Sister Wily... Funny thing - we had met during the 2 weeks I was with Sister Seegrist because she was in my district. She told me that 2 days before transfers she actually had a dream that we were going to be companions and she told me on last Pday because we were all together and we were like "Let's hope so!" Only to find out that it ACTUALLY happened!! Coincidence? Absolutely not! Way awesome. Totally inspired. Miracles are going to take place this transfer I'm sure of it! :D

We have had just a busy week but it has been full of love from the ward members and meeting those we are teaching right now. One super exciting news that we have is that we met with a 13 yera old year who the sisters had been teaching and she ASKED us when she could be baptized!!!! So amazing! Her name is Emily. Her mom is a really less active member of the church and her step-dad who lives with them is an alcoholic but lets her meet with us so it makes us happy. :) Haha... She has a 2 year old half sister and a 7 yr old brother. They're such a crazy family and it's kind of hard to teach them all at once sometimes because they have ridiculously short attention spans, but we do are best to uplift them and that's what matters.:) So anyways, Emily was telling us about how she really loves how she feels when she reads the scriptures and that she really wants to be an example to her siblings of how to live right. It amazes both Sister Wily and I to see how much she has been growing and learning and understanding the principles we are teaching her. Super awesome thing too... she went to church this past Sunday and she went with a friend she had in the ward and then after when we went to talk to her she was like "Did you two plan that? It was like those talks were exactly for me!" We were like haha... noooope, but we know someone who did.. ;) The Lord knows us so perfectly.

One neat thing we've been doing is volunteering in a nursing home (while visiting some less-active members of our church as well)  & Sister Wily plays the Ukulele so we have had some great experiences of singing some hymns. We went to visit this lady named Lee but her friend was there with her (who is from another denomentation) but as we were singing one of the hymns she knew what it was and started SINGING WITH US! It honestly was super absolutely beyond adorable and I just sparkled inside it made me feel so happy.

We have also really been working a lot on fixing a lot of things that have been doing oddly in our area. We are trying our best to stay on top of everything and everyone we need to visit, but it makes me so happy because Sister Wily is really willing to work. We have been doing all kinds of things and have really been working hard to get out of our comfort zone so we can grow and become better missionaries.

This week I had a couple of things I learned personally. They helped me in coming to know how much better of a person I can become. The great thing about the gospel of Jesus Christ is that there is always room for improvement. Everyone can always work on SOMETHING and learn how to better face difficulties and trials that arise or even to keep enduring through life. I really learned a lot about how Heavenly Father doesn't want me to us to serve a mission... but he wants me to be become a permanent missionary. That's what I'm ultimate here to learn. I know that when just experiences in everyday life come or discouraging times arise, we shouldn't ask "What did I get out of it?" But the better question to ask is "Who did I become because of it?" My experiences in my life should be, and are, shaping who the Lord wants me to become. I really have an exteremly firm testimony that it is so crucial that we put the Lord first in everything. I know that if we put him first, we will come to see taht He will make much  more out of our life than we ever could. We aren't going to be sitting at the judgement seat on day and Him ask us how successful we became in our carreer or who won the superbowl, but what he wants us to do in this life is learn how to become more like Christ. To have us sit at the judgement bar and him as us what kind of person did we become because of our knowledge of the Savior. He doesnt care about how much we have, but he cares about what we do with what we have. I know that to be so extremely crucial and important and I love reflecting on the person the Lord is allowing me to become.
We should all be focusing on who that person is the Lord sees and knows we have the potential of becoming. He loves us more than we can comprehend and simply wants us to let go of ourselves and hold onto Him.

I love this gospel and there is absolutely nothing else I would like to be doing than transforming into the daughter of God that He wants me to become.

I love you all so much!

Take care!
SMILE & BE HAPPY & REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!
:D

Love,
Sister Corina Selene Cuevas
