So much goodnesssss!! 04/07/14

Hello allll of everyone! Everywhere!

I'm extremely happy today and I'm so excited to share all of the wonderful miracles that have been going on here in Morgan City. Sorry if its a little longer than usual! Theres so much to say! By the way -- Sister Roberts and I are in a trio with Sister Scollan! And she is soooo incredible and an extremely wonderful breath of fresh air! I feel like I'm able to get back into the groove of actually working and not wasting time and it is one of the best feelings ever! She was born and raised in New York City but moved to Washington and lives there now. Coolest little fun fact - all three of us are pretty recent converts to the church!! We've been able to use that as a pretty powerful tool so far in this area. I am so excited I dont even know where to start!

So, I'm still having withdrawals from all my different areas -- Sister Wily told me that Gene passed the sacrament this past Sunday and that Lindsey went and bore her testimony about how she has been bullied at school bc of being baptized but that she is so awesome this little 11 yr old girl brought a book of mormon to school to prove to them that she was! :D <3 so sweet! & then (I realized i was spelling his name wrong.. whoops....) ALIN was baptized on the 29th and it went super well. I'm so happy for them and their progression. Nothing fills my heart more than to see how much it has blessed their lives!

What's pretty cool is that Morgan City is where we came for that Luau that I was in with Sister Wily. Well, it was pretty awesome because I met so many of the same people and various people told me "When I met you at the Luau, I had a feeling you would be sent here. I just knew it!" How cool is that?! And not just from one person. Me on the other hand, I never thought I would be back! But I think it's cool and I can already see why. I usually try to figure out immediately why I'm needed in an area and the Lord has definitely revealed it to me! Ooooh really cool fun facts, so this area is so small that it is not a ward, but a branch and it's both in english and in spanish at the same time... haha. but the best part is that we have callings!!!! (or responsibilities within the church) We are the young women leaders and teachers.. therefore, on TOP of being missionaries, we have to prepare lessons for the young women (ages 12-18) and a weekly activity. It is so crazy but tons of fun and Sister Scollan is a phenomenal missionary and we get along sooo extremely well! She has been backing me up so much on things I've been trying to teach Sister Roberts and it is relieving me of so much stress I'm so thankful!

I'm so happy to be able to work with the youth of the church! It seriously feels like it's exactly what I need to be doing. I can relate so extremely well because I was their age as I was trying to figure out more of why I needed a personal relationship with Christ and what I needed to do to become most like him. The Spanish in some of this area has been put on pause because there were no spanish speaking sisters so we have been picking up some investigators that didn't have anyone to teach them. Including the cutest little 15 year old girl named Alisson!!!!!!! I love her to death. She reminds me so much of my cousin Daisy and we are like best friends - almost immediately. I'm not even joking one little bit! We have all decided that her and i are twins. :) Yay! Actually each of us ( me, sis roberts, & sis scollan) all have our young woman that is our twin. We plan on taking a picture and sending it to ya'll. then you'll see why! :) Anyways, she is totally such a  great girl and really has so much potential. I'm just so excited to work with her. She's like "okay, you have to come over at least once a week. Or maybe twice. or 3, 4, 5 times a week" hahah :D So excited.

Then also! Super big miracle! When we first got to this area, sister scollan was saying how we really needed to expand our teaching pool & I'm like - notttaa problem! That's what I've been doing my whole time in Louisiana! Haha. So, we go to the library and i see this guy sitting on the couch and every once in a while we would accidentally made awkward eye contact and look away. (He's a much older man like in his 40s) and so you know how you kindly smile at someone when that happens so youre not rude, so thats about as far as it went. and then we were leaving and were about the open the door when I'm continuing to ignore these promptings to go talk to him and then i finally give in (as usual) & so I was like "sisters, lets go talk to that guy" and then we go and talk to him and honestly, super awkward. Like, I had not idea what to say and the library is super small so its really obvious to everyone what we were doing.. but we did it anyway. Did I know that I was going to say? Absolutely not. & honestly, i probably sounded absolutely ridiculous but i just started talking and thankfully he wasn't really awkward about it and talked back.. and so I'll kind of cut the long long story short.. turns out he has family from the same place that sister roberts dad is from and he knows that because he is HUGE on family genealogy!!! And him and Sister Roberts are long lost cousins!!!! Hahaha!! It was the coolest thing ever. Thats not even the best part though, so we just talk and stuff and he agrees to learn more and then i'm like well we would like to leave you with something and hes like "is it my own personal copy of a hotel bible?" and we were like "no, actually.. it's the book of mormon!" and then all he says back is "Oh, I'm interested in that" and sticks out his hand! Sister Scollan and I looked at each other and could not even believe it happened that way. He ended up coming that weekend to watch ALL sessions of General Conference with us at the church building (except for the last one) and he loved ALL of it! He's been reading the Book of Mormon and is completing every single invitation we give him! Before watching General Conference he even said "Why isn't this on CNN?!" <3 I can hardly believe it. Miracles galore. He's told us that he has lived in Morgan City for over a year and no one has ever approached him until we did. He asked us over the phone one day "Do Mormons believe in angels? Are you my angles?" <3
Moral of the story is that God is preparing these people! We just have to open our mouths and find them. He is so incredible!

General Conference was awesome! And I'm repenting for not having told you all to watch it in my last email! Please please forgive me! You can watch some videos and talks on this website though. Words from the Lords living prophet and 12 apostles! How much better can you get?!
Of course, Elder Hollands talk on keeping the faith was incredible!
As well as President Uchtdorfs on gratitude & even Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge!! I loved so many of them it's hard to pick a favorite. But watch watch watch! It's soo worth it!

I could keep going but i feel bad for writing so much! I hope that you all are making choices that will make you come closer to God. He is so great! So much love for him!

Love you all! Take care!

<3

Love,
Sister Corina Selene Cuevas
