:D
Helllloooo everyone!!!
Super great week once again. Sister Diaz seriously makes my day every single day. We are working super hard, in fact.. she just told me before we came here today that I am the hardest working companion she has had on her mission. How cool is that? :) Woohoo!! haha.
I am learning so much more spanish too which is awesome! I have been teaching her English too.. except I really find it interesting how much slang I honestly use.. haha.. :) But she's learning all kinds of good words too (in my vocabulary) i.e. devastated, straggler, fathom, devour, butcher, & antsy. :) Makes me giggle to think about it.
But anyways.. the 4th of July was seriously awesome! We didn't get to watch the fireworks or anything like that, but we were fed lunch that was SUPER yummy. For those of you who have gone to BYU, we ate J-Dawgs! :D It was the bestttt. I attached a picture of me and Sister Diaz for you to enjoy. It was so crazy busy here this past weekend because of all the families! Talk about getting stopped every couple minutes to talk about how AWESOME ARGENTINA IS DOING IN THE WORLD CUP!!!! :D woooohooooooooo!!!!!!!! I hope you are all rooting for them! I have a little mini-argentina flag on the back of my mexican flag. she is helping me really love the culture in that country. I have started drinking mate with her.. for those of you who know what that is.. I also made some empanadas with her the other day. They make them with actual meat inside (unlike a desert like yours mami) but they are the BEST. She had me put on her different argentina soccer team shirts on and take a before and after picture.. so those are in here as well. I took her to a Mexican restaurant here - Red Iguana - for her to get a taste of some Mexican food. It is so funny to me that she doesn't know what posole, chile rellenos, tamales, or enchiladas are either! But I will do my best to continue to change that . :) I just love her so much.
So, I have to tell you one of my highlights for this week. We went on exchanges with some sisters in my district, but during that exchange I took this Spanish tour with this family who are all members and a 13 year old girl who his cousins with them. Anyways, it was a really neat experience because her dad is a less-active member of our church and she is not a member either, but she was the sweetest thing and honestly was just the greatest experience for me.. We ended up becoming really really good friends by the end of the tour and she asked to keep in touch and accepted a Book of Mormon & a for the strength of youth pamphlet. What I loved most was that it just honestly reminded me about me when i was 13 years old. I was around 13 when I went to my first Young Women girls camp... which after a couple of years of attending, led to my conversion into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have such a natural love for youth because that was such a critical point in my life. I honestly look back and realize what a spiritually negative path I felt myself going down. I am so grateful for the young women leaders who really helped me understand my individual worth as a daughter of God. I have been able to see that giving my life to the Lord has helped me understand how much more he can make with my life than I could have on my own. I am just the happiest I think I could ever be at this point in my life & I'm so glad that my life experiences have led me to where I'm at. I have truly felt enveloped in the love of my Savior and I know for certain that the message I share as a missionary isn't only one of hope, inspiration, and happiness -- but I can honestly say that I know within my mind and in my heart that this is Christ's church once again established on the earth. It has been restored and the power of God to perform saving ordinances is found therein. I know that Jesus Christ can change anyone, he has the power to bring us out of our worst states and into the best. I am so grateful for my knowledge of the FULNESS of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are so sacred & such such special records. I feel so happy!!!
It is worth the pain and heartache that comes from changing some bad habits into better ones. Especially if they help in transforming you into the person Heavenly Father wants you to be & the person you are capable of becoming.
I love you all so much and i hope this week you reflect upon whether or not you are reaching that potential God has for you. I promise you it's there!!
Love you!!
Love,
Sister Corina Selene Cuevas

--I'm outside walking so much that I have ridiculous tan lines from my flats.. I'm debating whether or not to take a picture it is so awful... lol.
-- HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY FOR ARGENTINA ON THE 9th!!!! :D
(they also play against the Netherlands on that same day!!)
-- I met some Egyptians for the first time! They met me and asked if I was because I look like I am from there. (no one ever guesses I'm Mexican) haha..
